Gordons Bay Security Academy has been running since 2003.

We are accredited with SAPS, ITA, PFTC, SAQA, ETQA, PSIRA and SASSETA.

Our instructors, Matthew W Williams and Clifford van Haght, are not only an instructor, but they are also Assessors and Matthew W Williams is also a Moderator, registered with all the above mentioned entities. Their gradings and certificates are up to date and valid. Combined they have more than 22 years of experience in the industry and has built up a reputation of having "Above Standard" Portfolio of Evidence's for their students.

Firearms Competency Training
In terms of the Firearms Control Act, 2000, all existing firearm licenses would have had to be renewed as from 1 April 2004. Every person who applies for a firearm license, as well as a renewal of an existing firearm license, in South Africa will have to obtain a Firearm Competency Certificate at an accredited Institution.
​
Courses are available in English and Afrikaans.

Courses will be held every Thursday of the month. (Phone for available dates)
"NO" Class booking fees. This is non refundable and if you do not pitch up for the class or let us know 24hours before the time that you will not be attending the class, you will need to pay another R150 for another booking.
To do the business you must do the private.
Business is compulsory for all people wanting to handle, Use or Trade in
firearms in a business environment.
The legal has to be done but only once.
Process
Take the manuals home, complete the tests inside the manual in pen at home.
When you purchase the manuals, you will be given a date for the next class available.
On this day, bring your ID book as well as the completed tests with to the
office.
Your open book test will be marked and if you pass that, you will write a
closed book exam.
Your closed book exam will then be marked, and if you pass that, you will
move on to your practical shoot.
If you pass the practical shoot as well as both your exams, you will not
receive a competency certificate from me but
a proficiency certificate. With this you will go to the police and apply for
a competency.

To qualify for this course you are required to first complete the
tactical Unit Standards. On this course you will learn how to safely
control tactical shooting exercises and how to design different types
of tactical shooting exercises.
The purpose of our advanced tactical courses is to provide our students with the highest quality, most advanced tactical training and situational knowledge to overcome any obstacle which they might come across.

This course is set out for those who have already completed the proficiency training for business purposes. This is not an entry level course and one must have already successfully completed your advanced training in Handgun, Shotgun and Self Loading Rifle Business Unit Standards. The skill training course for tactical purposes is an advanced - level course specifically designed for people level who use firearms in a work related situation or for or advanced civil home/family protection. This course fixates on the utilization of firearms in high risk situations and under extreme stress. One needs to be in plausibly good physical condition to enroll on this course.
This course will equip you with the knowledge of how to win a gun or knife fight, do extractions, search and seizure, room clearance, vehicle approach, stop and search and apprehending techniques.

Our Tactical Unit Standard courses are PFTC and ITA accredited, and is intended to give our students a higher caliber of training.
​
We will be using a variety of progressive instructional techniques for all of our classes. This will include classroom discussions, video presentations, simulations, and hands-on experience.

Handgun 500 rounds min (Qualification shoot is 50 rounds)
Shotgun 300 Rounds min (Qualification shoot is 20 rounds)
Self-loading rifle 500 Rounds min (Qualification shoot is 50 rounds)
